About Me: Kelsey (she/her)

I have 9 years of experience as a Registered Dietitian, in both the clinical and outpatient space. I decided to start this business because I saw a need for weight-inclusive nutrition services in the Northeast.

I am from New Hampshire, though now residing in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont. I love being outdoors- skiing, hiking, playing with my dogs, gardening, sitting on the beach, or enjoying s’mores around a campfire. I really love food-cooking, eating, and experiencing new foods & flavors.

I am so, so fortunate to be an Intuitive Eater. I grew up in a house where food wasn’t scarce, food wasn’t used as a reward or punishment, and I didn’t receive comments about my body shape or size (to be clear, this is due to my unearned thin-privilege).

Yet, I watched my parents swing from diet to diet. Atkins, juice cleanses, South Beach, Weight Watchers…you name it- they had tried it! I‘d watch the weight come off and come back on. I’d watch the daily punishing exercise routines come and go. I’d hear about the daily weigh-ins and watch the scale dictate their moods.

Amazingly, they did not pass dieting on to me. I watched them suffer and knew from an early age I did not want to go down that same path. This is why I am so passionate about helping others to get off the “diet struggle bus” and start living! Food is meant to be savored, movement (or exercise) should be pleasurable, and I’m telling you, your life’s purpose is not to shrink your body.

So what’s with the name?

I’m not like a regular Dietitian, I’m a cool Dietitian! Ha!

My business is named “21st Century RD” because I am a Registered Dietitian committed to providing effective, evidence-based, compassionate, and highly individualized nutrition care.

I am committed to understanding your unique story and finding solutions alongside you to allow for recovery from eating disorders and chronic dieting.

Perhaps you have experienced a more traditional style Registered Dietitian. One that recommends food rules (or essentially eating disorder behaviors), only educates and rarely listens, and/or only focuses on the numbers. I’m so sorry on behalf of my profession. I know the harm these experiences can cause. This is why I take a more therapeutic, patient-centered approach.
